Ricki Zipkin ~ Wedding Officiant

I have been involved with weddings, in one form or another, since 1991–first as a wedding coordinator in a little church in Kent WA, and later as an officiant.  As a wedding coordinator, I quickly became involved in nearly every facet of the organization, planning, and execution of the ceremony.  From training guest ministers, handling rehearsals, and cuing musicians to providing counseling to nervous couples, setting up the receiving line, and even running the sound system, I made myself available in whatever capacity was needed.

I found instant connections to the couples that I worked with and their individual stories.  Over time, I became increasingly disheartened by witnessing certain limitations being imposed on them, whether it pertained to their musical selection or the variety of ceremonies being offered.  I felt that these couples deserved more and, in 1993, I became an ordained minister.

Two people meet, they fall in love. They know that this is the person that they want to spend the rest of their lives with. They decide to get married.

How it happens… I don’t know.  Somehow you have found each other. I do know that every love story is unique, and it is my job to bring that story to light.   For me, there is no greater honor than standing beside two people who have found one another and have decided to express their love by uniting in marriage.  It is both a sacred and joyous occasion.  It is a privilege to be the one chosen to share this time with you.  I prefer to meet with you both as a couple to fully understand and appreciate the specific ceremony that you envision.  We provide several options from traditional to non-traditional, religious to civil ceremonies.

Planning a wedding can be a stressful and overwhelming time.  My job is to decrease that stress, guide you through the planning/performing of your ceremony, and provide you with memories that will last a lifetime.
